Sunday, June 29, 2008 @ 7:11 AM What more can you ask for on ur birthday? A homemade ultimate chocolate cake with 101% of tender, love and care sprinkled all over, baked by your bf with 0% experience in baking. Aww! After two failed attempts, finally, the million dollar cake by Alvin. Wouldn't have succeeded without the wise and experienced sifu in baking, who sacrifice a lot of her beauty sleep to help. The sifu on the left and the crew. The crew helped deco the strawberries on the cake. They also helped to dispose the not-so-pretty strawberries, into their stomach! Hbee caught in the act! Happy birthday, Mei Ling! Labels: Outings 0 shouts. @ 6:38 AM Finally, someone set off our hostel's fire alarm! My first fire evacuation experience. I thought it was a false alarm or practice session, so I stood calm. The sound of the alarm almost burst my eardrums. But, later there were staff asking us to evacuate. On my way out, there was a burnt smell (more like grilled lamb), so i thought this was for real! Everyone of us, still in our pjs, had to leave the building. Not more than 2minutes later, the firemen arrived! How efficient is that? Even getting into a car and coming out of it takes more time than that! Four bold firemen went into the building investigate. As for the rest of us, we were left shaking in the cold breezy weather, wondering what was actually happening. To our disappointment, it wasn't something 'big'. :P It was one of batchmate, who left the fire resistant kitchen door open, and the smoke from the kitchen set the corridor's alarm off! Moral of the story, use the microwave oven whenever you can =) Save the firemen an unnecessary trip. 0 shouts. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 @ 4:05 AM Let me share a little something with you. Do you know why have I been shopping so much lately? Spending like there is no tomorrow? Let me tell ya. This is because, when you regret buying something that you liked for first 2 hours, or there was an impulsive urge to throw away your pounds but then you realise you've thrown away a little too much, one simple solution, go refund! Ya I said refund! Full amount some more! Ain't life good here? Back in Malaysia, every time me and Jac go shopping, usually we'd hesitate whether to buy or not. We'd either flip coins or say 'Aiya, come back next time lar, if still got means fated lar must buy.' But now, we just buy and then rethink after that, whether was it worth the buy or not. We have 30days to think bout it. Hehe. I purchased a few blouses from Zara cos i couldn't resist. But, I've been overspending, so i went back for refund, after 3 days :P Yayness! Not only I gained back money, but I can still use the money to splurge on other clothes! At least I get to sleep with the blouse for a night or two. I am satisfied, really. I think only Malaysia doesn't have this system. Imagine if they implement it, with kiasu consumers like me, all boutiques sure gulung tikar... 0 shouts. Sunday, June 22, 2008 @ 8:36 PM Yesterday, we had an important mission! Our mission was to celebrate Stephanie's ultra belated birthday. I know we were guilty for being super lousy friends for not celebrating her birthday any earlier. So the least we could do was to give a surprise! Hui Bee was our mission commander. Lol. Apparently, Steph was craving for korean food, so HB went online and found a korean restaurant in Glasgow. We found the map and we had a plan in mind. The plan was to just 'jalan sambil shopping then tiba-tiba 'Eh! Korean Restaurant wo! Let's go makan.' Sounds simple, but the truth was a lot more complicating that it sounds. We went shopping for the whole afternoon. We did a lot of camwhoring too!! Steph couldn't resist. Omg! We are no different from whores! :O Anyway, the mission went well as planned. Luckily Steph was blur enough to fall for the trick. Imagine we walked all the way from Buchanan street, all the way along Sauchiehall Street, from many boutiques, to boutique-less, from tall building to short buildings, it was obvious that we were out of the city already, but we kept walking. Steph was diligent enough to asked us to turn back but we all acted super semangat to keep 'exploring'. It was so dumb. To make matters worse, it was drizzling. Thank god for the umbrellas. Poor Jac, her Primark 4 pound shoes were good to look at but do her no good for walking. It caused her berjambak blisters. Aww... ![]() The big red dot was our destination. We made a few detours to shop =) hehe. The red line's the route. It a lot further than it looks. Oh ya we bought chips on the way =) yummy! After almost an hour of walking, finally, we reached our destination. It was the craziest day. The one and only Korean restaurant in Scotland! Wow At one point, we almost gave up coz we thought we were lost. But thankfully we got back to the main road and found our way. Too bad, Steph didn't crave for Korean food as much as we thought. She just casually mentioned that she missed Korean. Aww, but the meal was really good! I hadn't tasted good restaurant food for quite a while. Tasteful Korean side dishes. Too bad it wasn't refillable. Tofu the korean way... =) Happy Belated Birthday, Steph! Here's your 22nd Birthday Cake. Orange roses =) How thoughtful of 'Maria'! Guess who? :) We had no intention of walking back home. So we took a cab, which cost us only 4 pounds. Bloody hell should have just taken a cab there la. =) But all the effort was paid off when the mission was accomplished. It was raining cats and dogs, the wind was so strong till Sue's umbrella almost flew away. But that didn't stop us from going for a drink. It was Sue's idea by the way. o=) Three Blind Mice. Wtf. Cheerio! 0 shouts. Friday, June 20, 2008 @ 5:00 AM I feel ashamed of where I come from. I'm embarrassed of my skin colour. I don't usually feel that way. I realised only after I came to Scotland . Argh. (K lar not so serious) Its just like how we look at certain immigrants in our country. We exhibit certain amount of discrimination to them, somehow. Oh well there is a reason to it. Like how we hate the way the spit regardless of time or place. Also, the fact that our crime rate has increased drastically in recent years etc etc. Now that I'm at Glasgow, I'm a foreigner too. And ever since the day we arrived, we, Malaysians, have commited many things that I'm not very proud of. Hahaha I sound las if we murdered someone. lol We did things like, Running across the street when the pedestrian light was still red. But the cars were at halt as the light was still red too. So, I just ran across the street, hoping that there won't be any cars coming from the other direction. Unfortunately, most of the time we were not that lucky. So, we got many angry stares from drivers. Probably cursing 'Dumb Asians! Are they colour blind?' Luckily, I didn't receive any 'fingers' yet. Cutting queues in the post office and fitting rooms. Well, I didn't do it on purpose. Its just that back in Malaysia, we have queues for each counters or rooms. But they don't do it this way in Scotland. The only have one queue. Paiseh lar. Plus, the other day when we first went to Tesco for grocery shopping, most of us bought many stuff and to carry it all the way back to Strathclyde was mission impossible. So, our only option was to take a cab back, which cost us less than 4 pounds. But, some of us, (not me definitely), couldn't afford 4 pounds. Hence, they resort to stealing Tesco's trolley, and push the trolley all the way back to our hostel. Wtf. I think only Asians would do something like that. Kiasuism. I did something quite stupid today. (not like i disgrace our country or stg la) I went into Dorothy Perkins. They were having sales! Haha too tempting, cannot resist, so we went in. Everything was on sale, and something caught our eyes. Cutesy undies selling at 3 for 2! We were all so excited and it would be a sin not to buy since its less than 80p per piece! At the cashier counter, I felt so wise and contented with my steal, and confidently took out 2pounds and was ready to pay. Then only I realised, its actually 3 pieces for the price of 2! Meaning, buy two free one! Bloody hell I felt so embarrassed and I had to tell the cashier sorry. I would have bought it anyway since I'm very thick-skinned but I just splurged 50pounds at Zara earlier today (woohoo bought a trench coat damn proud!) Ahhh... so I was too poor to save my face. They must be thinking... Asians are super kiam and stupid, and there is 50% of truth in that! Maybe next time when someone ask me which country am I from, I'd just tell them I'm from Singapore lar.. That is the least I could do for my country. 0=) 0 shouts. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 @ 2:05 AM I'm using Flooble now, replacing my old chatterbox, coz my uni blocked it. Wtf. Anyway, feel free to tag! After 7 long hours of lectures, I treated myself with a new pair of Nike sneakers =) which only cost me 20pounds! And also 4 big bags of groceries, again! We went grocery-shopping for more than 5x ever since we came. Now, our kitchen is fully stocked, with more than one year supply of food la. We definitely won't starve to death. =) The only problem is, how much can we cook? God, please don't let me grow fat!>.< I was just wondering... Did the globe turn the wrong way? I thought only the southern hemisphere of the world is having winter. Why is it so bloody cold in Glasgow? Summer? 7C? Madness. Its just like living in the freezer. Need to wrap myself up more! Zara is having sales this coming thursday! =) 0 shouts. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 @ 4:09 AM Classes started today. It was madness. Mad in the sense that its from 9am-5pm with only one hour break in between. Not just today. But also for the whole of this month. And the following month. And the following month, again. T.T This means, less shopping. more labs. and a lot more boring long lectures. And only 1 hour break for each day, that also means, more frozen food. Sigh. 0 shouts. Monday, June 16, 2008 @ 5:32 AM This picture is taken specially for you, Hui Xin. I know you are a big fan of VS cosmetics. So, here's a picture to feed your eyes for the time being. Hopefully you can come and visit me here at Scotland and we can both go shop at VS tgt! This picture was taken at Heathrow Airport, London. The products are not too expensive. Lip gloss selling at only 5pound! 0 shouts. @ 4:51 AM Hey there, Suzu and Jane! Sorry, I can't reply on my tagboard coz my uni blocked it. Crappiness. But you can always leave a msg there =) I can read, but I can't tag! grrrr.... Thanks for dropping by. Miss ya! 0 shouts. @ 3:13 AM After 3 days of frozen food and canned mac and cheese, finally, one decent chinese meal. We didn't cook actually. It was take-away haha. Although it was so-so only(if we were back in Malaysia, we'd definitely curse and swear), but we actually finished every single biji of rice and noodle! We were deprived la. I should have been more appreciative of my mom's cooking before this. Sorry, mommy. Ooh, they gave us free har peng (prawn crackers) too. Today, we participated in the Westend Festival Parade in Glasgow, which only happens annually. It was not too bad. The street was super crowded, even pet doggies participated in the parade! Cute Scottish boys in kilts blowing bagpipes! And, the parade starts... Sue and my family =) Lucky for them, the weather was pretty good today, not too cold. Scarecrow! WoW! Fiiiuuweeeet! Do you see what I see? Hot Scottish lads! =D Look at the crazy crowd! We went shopping in the afternoon, AGAIN! Somebody , please come and save us before we turn our room into a walk-in closet! The picture above is taken at Buchanan street. They have many boutiques, from Topshop to Dorothy Perkins, and also other boutiques selling really cheap clothes. At Primark, the clothes are selling at prices which are much cheaper than Padini but the store size is as big as Metrojaya, maybe bigger! All of us were spoilt with too many choices, and finally we ended up buying almost everything we laid our eyes on. Tank tops for only 1pound (RM 6.50), pumps from 4pound to 10pound (RM27 onwards). Bloody hell i bought 3 set of earrings for only 50pence (around RM3.25). Wtf. This street is a shopping paradise. Imagine One U, with 2xbetter boutiques, 3x more fashionable clothings, 5x more fun because its outdoor = Buchanan Street! It is even better when it is sunny so that we won't freeze to death. The weather here can be very unpredictable. Two layers of clothing might not be enough to keep us warm. It can be super hot in the morning and super cold in the afternoon. Yesterday the temperature was rather low. It went down to 7C. I almost couldn't feel my feet. 7C during summer time. I can't imagine winter. 0 shouts. Sunday, June 15, 2008 @ 5:09 AM It was love at first sight. I fell in love right after I stepped out of the airport. I fell in love when the refreshing Scottish breeze caressed my skin for the first time. I fell in love before I even got to know the city. The unbearable 13 hour flight was all worth it. (3 days later) I'm now DEEPLY in love with Glasgow. You won't understand how I feel unless you are here to witness it yourself. The weather here is 90% sunny, (or maybe Jamie brought sunlight to Scotland, hence, no rain). The wind is breezy, not-too-strong, wear a tee with a sweater and you are good to go! The city center is just a 10 min walk from University of Strathclyde. That means, I'm just 10mins away from shopping heaven! I've only been here for 3 days and boy, I'm so loving this place. Sad to say, I don't miss Malaysia at all. (not including the people la, of course) Maybe except for the food. Even my hostel is really homey. It's well-equipped, carpet-ed, has all the necessary furniture, my very own Internet connection, a telephone we can use contact people who lives within the campus, FOR FREE! Haha, I can even talk to my roommates, without having to lift my big fat ass from my chair and walk all the way to their rooms. (only 10 steps away) It took my less than half an hour to unpack. And, TA-DA! Comfy. Fyi, the blue 'box' is actually my wardrobe. My new room =) Looking out from my window... The scenery ain't too bad huh? 4 of us in one house with 1 bathroom, 1 toilet and one kitchen with all the necessary stuff. I know its great! :) Along the journey to grocery shopping... Did you notice that all buildings in Glasgow are all brown in colour? Even their stones (ya, I mean batu) are brown not grey. An unusual sight in Scotland. So, it's true that Scottish men wears skirt and blow bagpipes =) This cathedral is situated opposite my university. Super ancient. A very talented artist with superb photocopying skill. Loving Glasgow! I found myself a new baby... a super sexy one... AAAAAAH it's so sexy! And it looks a lot like my old baby. It's limited edition and only UK has it, i think. I know you hate me. So sue me. 0 shouts. |
